INTRODUCING ARLINE - Colleagues, publishers,
readers and interviewees, alike, describe Arline Kaplan as being an honest
and ethical journalist; an insightful and adept writer; a bull-dog researcher;
and a meticulous, albeit occasionally obsessive, editor. A graduate of the
University of Southern California School of Journalism, she has worked 40
years as a reporter, writing for daily and weekly newspapers (e.g., the
Long Beach Press-Telegram and Kern Valley Sun), trade magazines, book publishers
and online publishers. She has written on many topics (e.g., dredging, finance,
insurance, marketing, parenting), but for the past 16 years, Arline has focused
primarily on health care. She has been senior contributing editor for
Psychiatric Times, a top-rated monthly publication distributed to 40,000
psychiatrists and mental health professionals across the nation, and senior
contributing editor for Geriatric Times, a bimonthly publication for primary
care physicians and multidisciplinary teams. Her earlier health care-related
communications experience included serving as a public affairs/public relations’
consultant and speechwriter for Comprehensive Care Corp. and as an editor
of books on endoscopy, laparoscopy and gynecology. She has received awards
and kudos for her work.
Since many of Arline’s friends and family members face chronic health
challenges, she is dedicated to helping them as well as you obtain quality
care by providing carefully researched and relevant articles on major psychiatric
disorders and medical conditions.
Arline also has received extensive training as a spiritual counselor. She
knows that healing entails more than new drugs, technological advances and
skillful health professionals. It involves an awareness of and a trust in
your body’s miraculous regenerative capacity, a willingness to change
attitudes and behaviors, and a belief in a Universal Energy, Intelligence
and Love.
